Comics

If the comic isn’t in the Shop, you can read it for free by clicking on the Image or title of the comic. If you can’t click on it, then I have used the maximum number of pages that squarespace lets me use and i chose to get rid of that so I can use the page for some other content.

Doorknocking Spaceboy

Comic Strip, Fall 2022

I wanted to make a new comic and, at the time, I was door knocking for a progressive congressional candidate in South Texas. I also yearned to tell a story set in space. This is the result of that!

Comic Strip, Winter 2021

I wanted to tell a heartwarming story about Santa losing his home because of the melting polar ice caps and this is what I came up with.

Comic Strip, Fall 2020

A comic I made with a friend, Sandra Shim, to explain Presidential Candidate Joe Biden’s Climate Plan. It was originally intended for Instagram, so we planned the artwork to flow from one panel to another as the viewer swiped across.

Red Waters

Comic Strip, Summer 2020

Like “Down”, this was another comic I originally created for Inktober, but one I decided to go back into and clean up digitally. As I was writing the story on the fly during the month of October, I had no idea I would end up exploring a lot of aspects within the theme of climate migration.

Wet Paint

Web Comic, Summer 2020

I was having a lot of jumbled thoughts and opinions about the city I grew up in, Houston, Texas. This comic was an exercise in expressing those ideas. This was a contest entry for the website, Webtoons, titled “White Paint”. It was a vertical web comic, so I fit it into a standard graphic novel format, polished it up, and changed the title.

Web Comic Strip, Spring 2020

No central character. A very loose overarching narrative.

A comic strip born out of my frustration with people’s reaction to climate change. I highlight the ridiculous actions and ideas people develop to the very serious threat to modern civilization in a series of funny dailies.

Bleacher Secrets

Web Comic, Winter, 2019

Attempting vertical comic strips again after Down, but this time with a more developed story/art style.

A collaboration with Kayla Volkomer where we wrote the story together but drew each chapter interchangeably. She drew even-numbered chapters. I drew odd-numbered chapters.

Boreal

Comic Strip, Winter 2019

This was a collaborative comic with Katie Heady where she illustrated the characters and I wrote the story, drew the background, and took care of the speech bubbles/lettering.

This comic was me trying to build upon the long-form comic-strip structure that I initially explored with Leaf and Wall.

Reaching for The Sun

Comic, Spring 2019

Envisioning a world where humanity has failed to address climate change, I wanted to explore an anti-hero’s story through the lens of nostalgic polaroid-like panels.

This was a collaborative project I worked on with artist Dion MBD where I drew the story and organized the layout and he made the illustrations.

Currently unreleased.

Graphic Novel, Fall 2018

A story inspired by studies which found that microplastics have affected the fertility rate among aquatic species.

This piece was printed and exhibited in a gallery raising awareness on the dangers of microplastics at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Experimental Comic Strip, Summer 2018

A 100-panel-long piece I created while vacationing in Hawaii. I wanted to push a style that emphasized the story of a character disconnected from the world he inhabits.

Experimental Graphic Novel, Spring 2018

An exercise in blending photos with digital art and creating something new out of it.

The Well

Graphic Novel, Fall 2017

A Pen-and-Ink graphic novel made for my school's comic-making club: Exploring my take on the horror genre with this medium.

Barking Dog

Sequential Art, Summer 2017

A wordless, narrative-driven, series of digital paintings.

Down

Vertical Comic, Fall 2017

I wanted to try making a vertical comic for web posting, so I used Inktober (one ink drawing every day for the month of October) to try my hand at it.

Children's Book, Summer 2017

An attempt at making a children's book with a slightly darker theme than the usual children's stories.

Graphic Novel, Spring 2017

I made this for my college's comic book club. This was my first time using the standard comic book format.

Comic Strip, Summer 2016

My first comic series, exploring existential themes through a talking leaf and wall.
